Average review score:

Great rainforest and ABC book.
I found this book in my quest for interesting books for a course I was teaching on the rainforest. At the ripe old age of 15, Kristin Joy Pratt (now Pratt-Serafini) developed this lovely book. Her illustrations take you on the journey through the rainforest with XYZ the ant. As the reader explores the ABC's, s/he also learns about the life within and the biodiversity. Words, facts and colorful illustrations will encourage discussion about this habitat and make learning the ABC's and exciting journey.

Wonderful classroom addition
A Walk in the Rain Forest is a wonderful introduction to the tropical rain forest- its plants, animals, and people. The book tells the story of XYZ- a small ant- and his journey through the rainforest. The beautiful pictures and simple text appeals to children of all ages. Additional factual information appeals to older children. This is a great book to use in the classroom to help introduce children to the wonders of the rain forest

A great guide for any Puget Sound diver
This is an excellent book! More information than any of the other similar books I've purchased. Good maps, succinct descriptions of conditions and animal life, tide information, and site warnings. Although the entire book is in B&W, there are interesting photographs mixed in with the text.

For the most part, information in the book has been correct and consistent with my own observations. This is a great introduction to how diverse and exciting the local diving can be, and why it's considered some of the best waters in the world. Buy this book!

Autobiography of Parley P. Pratt

Author: Parley P. Pratt

ONE OF THE MOST VALUABLE BOOKS ON LDS CHURCH HISTORY
This is a first-hand account of the growth and history of the Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter-day Saints, as seen through the eyes of one of its highest-ranking insiders (and Apostle), Parley P. Pratt.

Pratt, a traveling preacher, first heard of the Book of Mormon in late August, 1830, and was baptized on about Sept 1, 1830. From then on, his life was one of total committment and devotion to God's work on Earth.

Pratt served several missions for the Church and also suffered through many persecutions with the Prophet Joseph Smith himself, including several months in a filthy jail cell in 1838-1839. These experiences are told in fair detail so that it is easy for me to visualize them as if I had lived through them myself.

If you want to know what life was really like for early LDS Church members and leaders, you need to read this book.

The Birds and where to find them in the Blue Ridge
This book is an all-around treasure, for the beginning birder or the experienced ornitholigist, living in or near the Blue Ridge, planning to visit the Appalachian region, or even simply interested in this world-class region. The first fifty pages constitute an introduction to the Appalachian province and birding in general. The rest of the book profiles the birds of over 300 locations, where to go to see them, and how to get there. The book contains over two dozen maps, and even information about birding spots with handicapped access; an annotated checklist of birds; and a guide to contacts and resources for particular areas. It also features the drawings of H. Douglas Pratt. Part travel guide, part natural history, part handbook, this book is above all a joy.
